Nūn Art Gallery is pleased to introduce to you ... :
Mustafa Halwachi
Contemporary Bahraini artist Mustafa Halwachi
Mustafa Halwachi was born in 1977 on the tiny island of Bahrain but spent his childhood and teenage years in Dubai. In 1994, he moved to Seattle, Washington, for studies of interior design and returned to Bahrain in 1997. Today, the multi-faceted artist is not only a stunning street artist but also a talented interior designer, carpenter and musician. His first participation in an exhibition was in 1998.
Works at Nūn Art Gallery:
Exhibited at the Nūn Art Gallery Exhibition "Thaluth"
Mustafa Halwachi's concept for Thaluth is based on Dilmun, the ancient civilisation, which was located in his homeland Bahrain. What started in 2020 when Mustafa met Hathor of Dendera for the first time, led to the beginning of a deep fascination. A spark ignited a journey of discovery, a return to beauty to find a manifestation of Hathor. So Mustafa returned to Luxor with the desire to find peace and visual beauty. However, he found himself going through a self-discovery, a state of madness and rage. In the end, the discovery of himself led to finding the beauty within.
The Sound & Light Installation:
The light and sounds, which are part of Mustafa's show "In the Presence of Hathor", symbolise the state of being while going through this deeply personal journey. It may help the viewer experience that moment or at least imagine it.

Prof Fekry Hassan, who inaugurated the Thaluth exhibition, about Mustafa's work:
"Your work is truly fascinating and innovative. It shows that the past can be revived in novel ways with diverse media. I was impressed and thrilled with the exhibition and to be with you in the inauguration of this important show that manages to engages us with the artistic creations of ancient Egypt."
December 2020: "Dialog with Hat'hor" Mural
When Bahraini street artist Mustafa Halwachi came to Upper Egypt in late December 2020, Hathor from Dendera, the ancient Egyptian goddess of love, peace, beauty and the arts, was the first to greet him - and a fascination began! Inspired by the spirit of art, music, feminine energy and love, Mustafa visited Luxor, not missing the Nūn Art Gallery. He spontaneously changed his travel plans and offered us a Hathor mural. No doubt, we were thrilled about his idea. So, during the next two evenings, to be exact on 20 and 21 December, he painted and spray-painted the wall next to Wannas Art Cafe in an amazing speed and left us a mind-blowing mural called Dialog with Hat'hor. Many thanks for bringing so much beauty and power to our art space, Mustafa!

January 2022: Another "Dialog with Hat'hor" Murals
In late January 2022, Mustafa Halwachi came back for another "Dialog with Hat'hor". During his stay, he ran a 3-day live painting event creating four murals for Nūn Art Gallery at daytime and setting them in different lights at night while playing trance music. The video below may give you an impression. But what you can't see on the photos or clips as it's a question of various frequencies, which are only visible for the human eye, is that through his light installations a painting becomes three-dimensional and shows all the different added layers.
