6-Day Art Event "In the Picture", 11/12/21 - 16/12/21

Usually, artists show their work on the walls of galleries. Every piece is defined by its edges. What if this conventional viewpoint would be eliminated? Imagine climbing into a picture, being submerged, enveloped. Not being just an observer but a participant. Imagine being "In the Picture"!
Artists Abdullah Ali Butler and Mahmoud Mokhtar made it possible in a 6-day art event, which lasted from Saturday, 11th of December until their exhibition opening on Friday, 17 December 2021. During these days, Abdullah painted live a fully canvas-covered room - means 45 square metres!, which only can be entered by a slit, while Mahmoud created a sculpture for the entrance to the hidden painting standing watch like the guardians of ancient tombs.

It was amazing to follow the progress of both of the artists, starting with the preparations for their work until the completion.

"In the Picture" was a unique event, being "In the Picture" is an overwhelming experience!

Sculptor Mahmoud Mokhtar created a guardian sculpture for "In the Picture", one metre and a half high and made from gypsum.
